Welcome to Wilks in the Wild, where we are all about finding adventure one campground at a time.
This is us. This is our crew. I am the proud owner of three red-headed beauties, two rescued pups, and one Tim. There is no shortage of personality in our RV, but no shortage of love either. Tim and I were both lucky enough to grow up camping and hiking, and now it's time for us to pass it down to the next generation of nature lovers.
The Panic Purchase
During the 2020 pandemic, we sort of 'panic purchased' an RV. I was feeling claustrophobic and was considering life on the road. So, we found an old travel trailer and we got to work on the renovations. That summer, we all fell in love with the RV life. As tenters, we really didn't know what to expect. To be perfectly honest, having an actual bed felt like cheating. Gloriously comfortable cheating. We were hooked.
A few years later, we befriended a super crew of RVing families and the frequency of camping trips saw a sharp incline. At that point, we opted to upgrade; and in early 2023, we sprung for a 2020 28ft Jayco camper. Now we were ready to rock and roll.
As of today, we have 4 or 5 camping trips booked for the Summer and Fall of 2023. (Hopefully we can sneak in a few more.) We will be hitting up some local family campgrounds, Dutch Wonderland in Pennsylvania, Ocean City Maryland, the Appalachian Trail, and possibly Salem, Massachusetts! But the BIG news is that we are planning a MEGA road trip next summer which would take us from our home state of New Jersey, out to The Grand Canyon, and back again. We estimate it will take a full month, and 17 totally awesome stops to accomplish our longest RV adventure yet!

My goal is to review and journal about each campground we visit to provide insight and information to like minded campers. I hope my experiences will reach others that find joy in the outdoors and may even inspire them to check out a new location. I'll also be posting camping recipes, organizational tips, rainy day activities, camping hacks, etc. Follow along as the WILKS take on the WILD - our adventure begins now!
